Overview
New cancer cases in Georgia and each of its 159 counties, 2019-2023 pooled: the age-adjusted incidence rate per 100,000 with its 95% confidence interval, the average annual number of cases, and either the recent 5-year trend of the rate or the share of cases diagnosed at late stage, by cancer site (22 sites and all sites), race/ethnicity, sex and stage (all stages or late stage), from NCI and CDC's State Cancer Profiles (Georgia Comprehensive Cancer Registry data).
Row grain: One row per year, county_fips, tract_geoid, demographic, sex, cancer_site, stage.

Variables
Every column in the fact table. The code is the exact field name the API returns.
| Column | Type | Unit | Range | Null? | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
year | integer | — | — | no | End year of the pooled five-year window: 2023 = cancers diagnosed in 2019-2023. Every figure covers those five years together, not 2023 alone (see year_meaning).Full description▾End year of the pooled five-year window: 2023 = cancers diagnosed in 2019-2023. Every figure covers those five years together, not 2023 alone (see year_meaning). |
county_fips | string | — | — | yes | 5-digit FIPS code of the county of residence at diagnosis, as State Cancer Profiles lists it. NULL on the Georgia (state) row.Full description▾5-digit FIPS code of the county of residence at diagnosis, as State Cancer Profiles lists it. NULL on the Georgia (state) row. |
tract_geoid | string | — | — | yes | Always NULL: State Cancer Profiles reports by county. Kept for the health domain's standard key shape.Full description▾Always NULL: State Cancer Profiles reports by county. Kept for the health domain's standard key shape. |
demographic | string | — | — | no | Race/ethnicity: 'all', non-Hispanic white, black, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Hispanic.Full description▾Race and ethnicity (FK to the demographics dimension), State Cancer Profiles' groups: 'all' is every race, Hispanic included; 'white', 'black', 'native_american' (American Indian/Alaska Native) and 'asian_pacific_islander' (Asian and Pacific Islander as one group: the source never splits them) are non-Hispanic; 'hispanic' is Hispanic of any race. The five groups are mutually exclusive but do not add up to 'all': people of other or unknown race are only in 'all' (statewide, all sites, the groups' counts are 99.3% of all). Crossed with sex, which is its own column. 6 allowed values▾
|
sex | string | — | — | no | Sex: 'all' (both sexes), 'male' or 'female'.Full description▾Sex: 'all' (both sexes), 'male', 'female', crossed with every race group. Sex-specific sites have only their own sex and no 'all' row: breast_female, breast_female_in_situ, cervix, ovary, uterus are 'female' (rates per 100,000 women), prostate is 'male' (per 100,000 men). Male + female average annual counts equal 'all' within 1 (rounding); age-adjusted rates do not combine that way. 3 allowed values▾
|
cancer_site | string | — | — | no | Cancer site; 'all' is all cancer sites.Full description▾Primary cancer site, State Cancer Profiles' list: 'all' = all cancer sites (the total); bladder (invasive and in situ); brain_and_other_nervous_system; breast_female (invasive, women); breast_female_in_situ (in situ only, women; not in 'all'); cervix; childhood_under_15 and childhood_under_20 (all sites, children under 15 / under 20, rates age-adjusted over those ages); colon_and_rectum; esophagus; kidney_and_renal_pelvis; leukemia; liver_and_bile_duct; lung_and_bronchus; melanoma_of_the_skin; non_hodgkin_lymphoma; oral_cavity_and_pharynx; ovary; pancreas; prostate; stomach; thyroid; uterus (corpus and uterus, NOS). Invasive cancers only except bladder and breast in situ. The sites overlap ('all' contains the named sites; the childhood rows hold cases also counted under named sites): never add across sites. childhood_under_20 has trend figures only (its rate and count are withheld; see the rate's description). 23 allowed values▾
|
stage | string | — | — | no | Stage at diagnosis: 'all' stages or 'late' only.Full description▾Stage at diagnosis: 'all' = every stage (including unknown); 'late' = late stage only (regional or distant spread), a subset of 'all', published for the 18 staged sites (not all, breast_female_in_situ, childhood_under_15, childhood_under_20, leukemia). Staging is SEER's Combined Summary Stage / NPCR's Merged Summary Stage (publisher footnote). Never add 'late' to 'all'. 2 allowed values▾

age_adjusted_incidence_rate_per_100k | number | — | yes | New cancer cases per 100,000 people a year, age-adjusted, 2019-2023 average.Full description▾New cancers diagnosed per 100,000 people per year, age-adjusted to the 2000 U.S. standard population, over 2019-2023, as State Cancer Profiles publishes it (Georgia Comprehensive Cancer Registry data, SEER November 2025 submission). The population is the group's: women for the female-only sites, men for prostate, children of the ages for the childhood sites. On stage = 'late' rows it is the rate of late-stage diagnoses. In small groups one or two cases move it a lot: read it with age_adjusted_incidence_rate_per_100k_ci_lower and age_adjusted_incidence_rate_per_100k_ci_upper. Under-20 counts cannot equal under-15 counts, and the Georgia figures (15.9 per 100,000, 329 cases a year) imply about 2.1 million children, Georgia's under-15 population, not its roughly 2.8 million under 20, so the 515 figures are a copy of 516's. | |

pct_of_all_stage_cases | number | — | yes | Share of all the site's cases (every stage) that were diagnosed at late stage (regional or distant spread), 0-1: the late-stage row's cases over the stage = 'all' row's for the same place, group and site, as State Cancer Profiles publishes it (Percent of Cases with Late Stage / 100). recent_trend_aapc | number | — | — | yes | Recent 5-year trend of the annual incidence rate: the average annual percent change (AAPC) from NCI's Joinpoint regression, as a signed fraction (the published percent / 100: -0.029 = falling 2.9% a year). State Cancer Profiles calls a trend rising when the 95% CI (recent_trend_aapc_ci_lower, recent_trend_aapc_ci_upper) is above 0, falling when below 0, and stable otherwise; that label is not stored because it follows exactly from the CI (checked on every row). Trends use a different malignancy standard than the rates and, for some counties, a different span of years (publisher footnotes). On stage = 'all' rows only. No unit: a signed annual percent change has none in the platform vocabulary. For childhood_under_20 the trend is kept as published (it differs from the under-15 trend), though the rate is withheld.Full description▾Recent 5-year trend of the annual incidence rate: the average annual percent change (AAPC) from NCI's Joinpoint regression, as a signed fraction (the published percent / 100: -0.029 = falling 2.9% a year). NULL handling
- Suppressed cells (values the source withholds, usually for a group too small to report) are NULL, never zero.
- Zero is a real, reported value.
Limitations
One pooled period, not an annual series: every row describes cancers diagnosed in 2019-2023 (year 2023 is the window's end year), the only county window State Cancer Profiles serves. The next release's window will overlap this one in four of five years, so two releases are never year-over-year change; the published 5-year trend (recent_trend_aapc) is the table's only trend information. Rates are age-adjusted to the 2000 U.S. standard population and use the population of the group (per 100,000 women for breast, cervix, ovary and uterus, per 100,000 men for prostate, children for the childhood sites). Rates cover invasive cancers only, except bladder (invasive and in situ) and breast_female_in_situ (in situ only). Counts under 16 cases in five years are suppressed (rate, CI, count and trend NULL; about 85% of county cells across all combinations, most race-specific cells for rare sites and every American Indian/Alaska Native county cell except a few for all sites), and a suppressed cell can be zero, so county rows do not add up to the state row. Small published counts carry wide confidence intervals: compare places with them. The population behind each rate is not published, so county rates cannot be pooled into a regional rate here; the state row is Georgia's published rate. Race groups are non-Hispanic white, black, American Indian/Alaska Native and Asian/Pacific Islander (combined, never split), plus Hispanic of any race; they do not add up to 'all' (other and unknown races are only in 'all'). Trends come from NCI's Joinpoint on a different malignancy standard than the rates, and for some counties a different span of years (publisher footnotes). The childhood under 20 rates and counts are withheld here (childhood_under_20 NULL): the publisher's figures for it repeat the under-15 ones. The U.S. comparator row, the CI*Rank county ranks and the rural-urban class are not in this table. tract_geoid is always NULL.
