Overview

Pregnancies of Georgia-resident women, by county of residence, Georgia and each of its 159 counties, 2000-2025, overall, by the mother's race and ethnicity and by her age (never crossed), from Georgia DPH's OASIS: OASIS's pregnancy rate per 1,000 females (key metric: females aged 10-55, or of the row's age group) and the number of pregnancies. A pregnancy, in OASIS's definition, is a conception that ends in a live birth, a fetal death (any gestational age) or an induced termination, counted once however many babies are born; ectopic and molar pregnancies are not counted. Use it for pregnancy and teen pregnancy rates (15_17 and 18_19), trends, and comparisons by race and by age. Live births are the OASIS births topic (health); this topic does not split pregnancies by outcome.

Row grain: One row per year, county_fips, tract_geoid, demographic, mother_age.

pregnancy_rate_per_1k_femalesPregnancy Rate per 1k Femalesnumberrate_per_population—yesPregnancies per 1,000 females (aged 10-55, or of the row's age group)
Full description
OASIS's pregnancy rate: pregnancies per 1,000 females of the same ages in the place and group. On a mother_age = 'all' row the females are aged 10-55; on a mother's age row, the females of that age group (15_17 and 18_19 give the teen pregnancy rates). Race rows divide by the group's females 10-55. Never add or average it across rows. 0 where the group had no pregnancies; NULL where a race group has no residents in the place, or none aged 10-59. Georgia 2025: 45.0 (157,295 pregnancies); 15_17: 8.1. The highest, 1,000.0 (1 row(s); asian, county 13287, 2019: 5 pregnancies), is preserved as published: a small group whose count equals OASIS's female population estimate. The multiracial rates of 2008 (up to 966.6, county 13051) are the 2007-2008 race recording break (see limitations). County rates from 2023 leave out the pregnancies OASIS places in no county.
num_pregnanciesNumber Pregnanciesintegercount—yesPregnancies of women resident in the place, in the group: live births, fetal deaths and induced terminations, one per conception (twins are one pregnancy). OASIS publishes every count, however small. race_unknown is our subtraction from OASIS's counts. Georgia 2025: 157,295.

Notes & limitations

NULL handling

  • Suppressed cells (values the source withholds, usually for a group too small to report) are NULL, never zero.
  • Zero is a real, reported value.

Limitations

Pregnancies, not births: each ends in a live birth, a fetal death or an induced termination, and twins count once. pregnancy_rate_per_1k_females is per 1,000 females aged 10-55 (or of the row's mother_age group). From 2023 OASIS places 5,632-6,362 pregnancies a year in no county, counted only in Georgia's row, so county counts and rates from 2023 run low. Rates are NULL on 1-4 pregnancies. Compare race groups from 2010 (Georgia) or 2013 (counties); NULL where over 20% lack race (our mask). A pregnancy, in OASIS's definition, is a conception that ends in a live birth, a fetal death (any gestational age) or an induced termination, counted once however many babies are born; ectopic and molar pregnancies are not counted. Placed by the woman's county of residence, not where the pregnancy ended. Pregnancies minus live births (and fetal deaths) is not a count of induced terminations: a twin delivery is one pregnancy but two births, and the fetal deaths topic counts only 20 or more weeks' gestation, so the platform publishes no termination figure. Induced terminations are those reported to Georgia DPH, likely only those performed in Georgia: OASIS does not say whether terminations of Georgia residents in other states are counted. OASIS's Unknown Georgia County holds 6,362 in 2023, 5,936 in 2024, 5,632 in 2025 (none before 2023): the counties add up to 96.1% of Georgia in 2023, 96.3% of Georgia in 2024, 96.4% of Georgia in 2025, and to all of Georgia in every earlier year. They are not live births or fetal deaths of 20+ weeks (OASIS's births and fetal deaths modules place every one in a county), so they are induced terminations or earlier fetal deaths with no county recorded (our reading). OASIS records 774 of them as Hispanic in 2023 and none in 2024 or 2025 (none of unknown ethnicity either), so Georgia's hispanic row of those years may run low. The race groups' series break in 2007-2008, which looks like a change in how the mother's race was recorded (our reading; OASIS documents none), as in the births topic: multiracial pregnancies rose from 886 in 2006 to 3,606 in 2007 and 7,179 in 2008 (4,422 in 2009), then held between 2,823 and 3,885 a year from 2010, so multiracial figures of 2007-2009 are not comparable with other years (the highest multiracial rate, 966.6 per 1,000, is county 13051 in 2008); white pregnancies fell from 75,963 to 66,923 and native_american from 261 to 133 in 2008. race_unknown (unknown ethnicity, and from 2008 also pregnancies recorded with no race, every year since, unlike births) peaks at 7.1% of Georgia's pregnancies in 2011 (3.2% in 2025), so the race groups run that much low. Counties break harder and for longer: in 82 county-years of 2000-2012 (none since; 15 counties) more than 25% of pregnancies have no recorded race or ethnicity, up to 73%, most often in Catoosa, Dade and Walker (the Tennessee border) and in Tift and nearby counties from 2007, so OASIS's race groups for those county-years run far low (Tift: 420 of its pregnancies in 2011 had no recorded race or ethnicity, and OASIS counts its black pregnancies as 33 in 2011 and 193 in 2013). Hispanic pregnancies spiked in Sumter, Walton and Macon in 2008-2009 (Sumter: 97, 341, 291 and 68 in 2007-2010). Compare a county's race groups over time from 2013 only (its race_unknown share has been at most 16% since). Those county-years, and the others with more than 20% of pregnancies of unknown race, have their race groups NULL here (our mask), Tift's 2011 black pregnancies among them. Where race or ethnicity is unknown for more than 20% of a place-year's pregnancies (race_unknown / all), the race groups' pregnancies and rates for that place and year are NULL (our mask, OASIS's own 20% threshold for missing items): each group's count would miss its share of the unknowns, so its rate runs low and its trend follows the recording. The all, mother's age and race_unknown rows are kept, so the unknown share stays visible. That covers 99 place-years (2000-2012, 20 counties; never Georgia; 693 race-group rows). Race groups are the mother's race and ethnicity in the platform convention: hispanic is Hispanic of any race; white, black, asian, native_american (American Indian or Alaska Native), pacific_islander (Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander) and multiracial are non-Hispanic. race_unknown is our calculation, the total minus those seven (unknown ethnicity, or non-Hispanic of unknown race), so the race groups add up to all where every group's count is published (our race mask NULLs them in the place-years where race is mostly unknown); it has no rate. mother_age is the woman's age in OASIS's mother's age groups (10_14, 15_17, 18_19, then five-year groups to 40_44, and 45_55); the groups add up to all. OASIS splits the teen years into 15_17 and 18_19 and publishes no 15-19 rate. The 45_55 group and the all-ages rate include women and females aged 55. demographic and mother_age are never crossed: a race group's row has mother_age = 'all', and a mother's age row has demographic = 'all'. OASIS publishes every pregnancy count, however small, and withholds the rate on 1-4 pregnancies (NULL here); the platform adds no suppression of its own and never recomputes a withheld rate. 21% of rows with at least one pregnancy have no rate, mostly 1-4 pregnancies in small counties and groups. A race group with no residents in a county has no rate (NULL; OASIS shows 0, our mask), and neither has one with residents but nobody aged 10-59 (OASIS's population by age, race and ethnicity; 191 rows, also our mask). One with residents of those ages but no females aged 10-55 would keep OASIS's 0: our bronze holds no female population by race (its population requests never cross race with sex), so it cannot be told. The rate's denominators are OASIS's population module (Census Bureau estimates as OASIS publishes them): pregnancies x 1,000 / the female population of the age group reproduces every published rate of 10_14 through 40_44, but no population is published here (the all-ages and 45_55 denominators include age 55, which the module's five-year bands cannot give, and bronze holds no female population by race), so rates do not pool across rows. 2025 is the newest year. Pregnancies add up across the mother's ages, and across the race groups (with race_unknown) except in the county-years our race mask NULLs them, where a race group's counties also fall short of Georgia's row. Not served here: OASIS's first and repeat pregnancies (another measure family, kept in bronze); the module offers no sex, payer, SES or education breakdown. tract_geoid is always NULL.
