Resumen

Patients of federally funded health centers (Health Center Program awardees, the federally qualified health centers funded by HRSA, and FQHC Look-Alikes) living in each Georgia county and the state, by primary insurance, 2005-2025. HRSA's counts of each health center's patients are placed in counties by ZIP code through the Census Bureau's 2020 ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs): a ZIP's figure is split among the Georgia counties its 2020 residents live in, in proportion to their 2020 Census population, and the part matching residents in another state (ZCTAs 30165, 30741 and 36855 cross the state line) is left out. A ZIP code that is not a ZCTA (a PO box, single-organization or newer ZIP) is placed in the ZCTA that HRSA's ZIP Code to ZCTA crosswalk assigns it (the ZCTA around its ZIP point; the ZIP points are Esri's, via HRSA), and from there like any ZIP in that ZCTA. Insurance (uninsured; Medicaid, CHIP or other public; Medicare; private) is reported from 2013. From HRSA's Uniform Data System, the annual report every health center files.

insuranceInsurancestring——noPatients' primary medical insurance, or all.
Descripción completa
Primary medical insurance as the health center reports it: all = every patient (the ZIP total); uninsured = none or uninsured; medicaid_chip_other_public = Medicaid, CHIP or other public insurance; medicare = Medicare; private = private insurance. Reported from 2013: earlier years have only all. The four values are a partition of each ZIP total in HRSA's file, but HRSA suppresses insurance cells far more often than totals, so in gold they add up to less than all (96.99% of all statewide in 2025).

Descripción completa
Health center patients living in the county: our allocation of HRSA's patients by home ZIP code (every Health Center Program awardee and Look-Alike in the country, each counting a person with at least one visit in the year) to counties by 2020 Census population, summed and rounded to whole patients. PO-box and other non-ZCTA ZIPs are placed through HRSA's ZIP Code to ZCTA crosswalk (ZIP points: Esri, via HRSA; 1,755 patients in 2025). Suppressed cells (1-15), Other ZIP Codes rows and ZIPs neither source places are left out, so it undercounts (Georgia 2025: 741,197 placed of 741,228 patients shown in Georgia ZIPs). A person seen by two health centers counts twice. 2005-2011: HRSA's users, the same count.

    Limitaciones

Our allocation, not a count by county: HRSA gives patients by home ZIP code; we split each ZIP (PO boxes via HRSA's ZIP-to-ZCTA crosswalk) among counties by 2020 Census population, every year. Undercounts: suppressed cells (1-15 per center and ZIP), Other ZIP Codes rows and unplaceable ZIPs are left out. Covers Georgians seen by any HRSA-funded health center or look-alike, out-of-state ones included, not all clinic patients (health departments, free and rural clinics are not in UDS). Insurance is reported from 2013; its rows are incomplete, because HRSA suppresses insurance cells far more often than ZIP totals (in 2025 the four add up to 96.99% of all statewide), so they add up to less than all, and no unknown-insurance row is computed (it would undo suppression). Patients 2005-2011 are HRSA's users, the same count under an earlier name: in 2011 each center's ZIP rows add up to its total patients in UDS Table 3A; 2005-2010 workbooks have no Other ZIP Codes or Unknown Residence rows, yet their ZIP rows still fall a few percent short of each center's Table 3A total patients, as later years' rows do, so 2011 is not a break in the series. A person seen by two health centers counts twice. Look-alikes report from 2012 and are summed with awardees (10,505 Georgia-ZIP patients in 2025); in 2012 and 2013 one Georgia organization filed both, for mostly different ZIPs (at most 2 shared), and both are counted. ZIP codes that are not ZCTAs (mostly PO boxes and single-organization ZIPs, 0.24%-1.22% of Georgia-ZIP patients a year) are placed through HRSA's ZIP Code to ZCTA crosswalk: each takes the ZCTA around its ZIP point (the ZIP points are Esri's, via HRSA) and is then split like that ZCTA, using the crosswalk edition of its own year, 2022-2025 (2005-2021 use the 2022 edition, the nearest on 2020 ZCTAs: the 2021 edition is on 2010 ZCTAs). That places 91.8% of those patients (40,267 of 43,876 patient-years, 2005-2025; 2025: 1,755 of 1,755). Left out each year: patients in ZIPs neither the ZCTAs nor the crosswalk place (retired or invalid ZIPs; 0.00%-0.53% a year, at most 1,642 in 2012; 2025: 0), suppressed Georgia-ZIP totals (308-988 cells a year; none in 2008), Georgia health centers' Other ZIP Codes rows (2025: 20,079 patients) and Unknown Residence rows (727), and the out-of-state residents' share of the border ZCTAs 30165, 30741 and 36855 (2025: 32 patients). In 2008 HRSA suppressed no cells, so small ZIPs are placed that year only. From 2020 UDS counts virtual visits (Table 5), so someone seen only by video or phone may count as a patient from then (our reading). 2020 shares can misplace patients where a ZIP's population has shifted since, more so in early years. Out-of-state health centers' patients in Georgia ZIPs are included (2025: 2,747). Figures are rounded to whole patients after summing, so insurance rows can exceed all by up to 2 in a county, and a 0 can hide suppressed patients, an Other ZIP Codes row, an unplaceable ZIP or under half a patient allocated. The Georgia row is the sum of the published county rows, not HRSA's state total. tract_geoid is always NULL.
