year is the FEDERAL FISCAL YEAR (October 1 - September 30; FY2024 = 2023-10-01 to 2024-09-30), as OHSS publishes it; there is no month. Figures match OHSS's published fiscal-year tables, not calendar-year counts - the reverse of the calendar-year enforcement topics in this domain. Georgia statewide only: county_fips is always NULL, because OHSS publishes naturalizations by state of residence and no county figures exist. The Yearbook also ranks core based statistical areas (the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell metro area among them); they are not included because this domain has no CBSA geography. People are counted at their state of residence when naturalized. OHSS bases these tables on N-400 data for persons aged 18 and over: children who derive U.S. citizenship through a parent (with no N-400 of their own) are NOT counted, so this is not every new citizen. Coverage: Georgia's total for FY2015-FY2024 from the Yearbook of Immigration Statistics 2024, Table 23 (country_of_birth and region_of_birth = 'all'). The country-of-birth and region-of-birth breakdowns exist for FY2024 only (Supplemental Table 1); FY2015-FY2023 carry only the 'all' total. Earlier Yearbook editions publish the same supplemental table for their own year and were not collected. Rounding: OHSS rounds every published cell to the nearest 10 and withholds nothing, so a 0 means 0-4 people (21 of Georgia's 168 FY2024 country cells are 0), and a total need not equal the sum of its parts. The 'all' value is always OHSS's own published total, never a recomputed sum: Georgia's FY2024 country cells sum to 24,820 against the published 24,790, while its region cells sum to 24,790. 'other' (FY2024: 6,290) is NOT an OHSS-published figure: it is this platform's sum of 141 rounded OHSS country cells (21 of them 0), so its rounding error accumulates (up to 5 per cell in principle). It holds every country outside the 26 served, including the country of Georgia (the Caucasus nation), the United States and American Samoa as countries of birth, dissolved states recorded as they stood at birth, and OHSS's residual row of countries with fewer than 100 naturalizations nationally ('All other countries' 70). Each named country and 'unknown' is a single OHSS cell. country_of_birth serves 26 named countries: the union of Georgia's 20 leading countries of birth among FY2024 new LPRs statewide, FY2024 naturalizations statewide, and new LPRs in Georgia's top-200 counties FY2007-FY2024. The new_permanent_residents topic serves the same vocabulary, so the two compare country by country. 'china' is OHSS's "China, People's Republic" (mainland only): Hong Kong and Taiwan are separate OHSS countries in 'other'. Likewise 'united_kingdom' leaves out Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man, which OHSS lists separately. The census foreign_born_by_country_of_birth topic's china and united_kingdom include them, so compare with care. region_of_birth is OHSS's world-region breakdown of the same total, published separately from the country breakdown and never crossed with it: country rows carry region_of_birth = 'all' and region rows carry country_of_birth = 'all', so never sum across both axes. OHSS's North America includes Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean as well as Canada (it is not the ACS 'Northern America'). 'unknown' appears on both axes and is the same people. These are OHSS-published aggregates. This platform applies no suppression of its own, and no value is NULL.
